Our verdict

Where Deel fits

Deel is worth considering when you want employment administration in one platform. Its documented workflows are a useful starting point. The buying decision turns on the full bill, upfront funding and who resolves difficult cases.

Global assessment4.7 / 5All six areas ↓

Worth considering for

Teams that want connected contract, payslip and leave workflows and can check the country setup before signing.

Look more closely if

Teams with little room for upfront funding, or those that need a binding urgent-payroll resolution promise before committing. Settle those points in the offer first.

Main cost watch-out

Check what reaches the employee

Currency conversion can change the take-home amount

A payment user praised fast payouts and clear payment amounts, but said choosing local currency cost almost twice as much as requesting US dollars.

Was it fixed?

No provider response or resolution was recorded. No transaction statement or comparable exchange rate was supplied. This does not establish Deel’s EOR FX fee or a hidden charge on every route.

Before signingRequest a worked conversion using your invoice currency and the employee’s receiving currency.

Look beyond the monthly fee

Extra charges and cash tied up

Check these separately on your quote. A refundable deposit is cash you need to fund, while a conditional fee is an expense.

Conditional fee

Extra payroll runs

A client-requested on-demand payroll run costs US$29 per EOR employee. Availability and payroll-stage restrictions apply. Deel-initiated compliance payments are not charged this fee.

Ask forAsk which corrections trigger the fee and when the employee will receive the money.

Cash tied up

Deposit and final settlement

The usual deposit is 1–1.5 months of total employment charges. It is separate from payroll funding. Refund timing can be up to 60 days after termination is complete and all invoices are settled.

Ask forGet the deposit calculation and the point when the refund clock starts in writing.

Employment cost

Severance funding

Where required, a separate monthly severance accrual adds to upfront funding. Final costs can create a further invoice; excess accrual is refundable.

Ask forSeparate statutory employment costs, refundable funding and Deel’s own charges on the quote.

Beyond the feature list

What customers say

G2, Capterra and Trustpilot accounts add useful detail, but cover a mix of EOR, payroll and contractor products. Some are invited or incentivised. Treat them as individual experiences, not an EOR success or failure rate.

When things go wrong

Invoice problems outlasted the first complaint

An employer described prolonged sick-pay invoice corrections and disputed currency reconciliation after a provider transition.

Was it fixed?

Deel said it could not identify the account and invited direct contact. No customer-confirmed resolution was captured. The alleged errors and financial impact were not independently verified.

Before signingAgree a billing-dispute owner, correction deadline and how payroll continues while an invoice is disputed.

A promised update is not a resolved payment

A customer reported a recurring payout held for payment-partner identity checks. They said the promised decision date passed after documents were supplied.

Was it fixed?

The public response offered a call. The captured account did not confirm that the payment was released.

Before signingAsk who owns a blocked payment, what happens if a deadline is missed and how emergency escalation works.

Also reportedOther accounts praise onboarding, payroll administration and helpful support. One G2 customer reported that an alternative document was accepted after a documentation problem.

For your decisionUse the mixed feedback to test a difficult case: a disputed invoice, payroll correction or document rejection. Ask who takes ownership through to resolution.

The detail behind your decision

01

Cost & upfront cash

The published EOR fee starts at US$599 per employee per month. Salary, employer taxes, benefits and other employment costs are additional. Contractor and US PEO prices cover different products.

Published deposit guidance describes 1–1.5 months of total employment charges. That includes more than the service fee. Salary funding and any severance accrual are separate; the amount in your offer can differ.

Client-requested extra payroll runs can add a charge. Their availability depends on the country and processing stage.

Before signingRequest a normal monthly invoice, the first funding request and an early-exit example for the same hire.

02

Support & resolution

Deel advertises round-the-clock help. The general platform terms do not establish a binding deadline for resolving an urgent EOR payroll issue.

Customer accounts include helpful support and straightforward onboarding, alongside frustration with handoffs and reaching a person. Some accounts report help or a resolution. These mixed-product experiences do not establish a typical EOR response time.

Before signingAgree a named case owner, local escalation route and written resolution commitments.

03

Contracts & leaving

Deel advertises month-to-month EOR service. Ending it can still leave employment notice, severance and final charges to settle. The terms of the signed EOR agreement matter.

Accounts of UK employee transfers differ on whether the original start date carries over. These are individual forum reports, so get tenure, leave and benefits continuity in writing.

Before signingAsk what is payable on departure, who handles the transfer and when final settlement is complete.

04

Platform & integrations

Deel documents access to employment details, signed agreements, payslips and leave. Contract changes and resignation steps can require approvals or signatures.

A G2 international-payroll buyer praised local-rule handling but found QuickBooks Online integration and reimbursement reconciliation confusing across currencies. That is one account, with no confirmed fix; it is a useful demo question, not a conclusion about every EOR setup.

Before signingWalk through a hire, contract change, leave correction and export using your own accounting setup.

05

Payroll & employee experience

On-demand payroll depends on the country, payroll stage and settled invoices. Starting a payment and the employee receiving it are separate steps.

Local mandatory benefits and optional benefits are advertised. UK forum accounts describe both successful payments and difficulties with benefit arrangements. These reports do not establish a universal benefits package.

Before signingConfirm the correction cutoff, funding deadline, extra charge and expected bank receipt date.

06

Coverage & delivery model

Deel markets EOR hiring through owned entities and payroll infrastructure. Its broader service-coverage claims cover a different scope from EOR employment.

Confirm the employing entity, role eligibility and any licence, worksite or sponsorship restrictions for this hire. Global coverage cannot establish local service quality.

Before signingAsk for the local employer’s name and the team responsible for payroll and employee issues.

07

Security & track record

The published May 2026 data-processing agreement distinguishes controller and processor roles and describes incident, audit and subprocessor procedures. Confirm which provisions apply to your EOR arrangement.

Deel describes encryption, access controls, backups and monitoring. Those published controls do not establish the audit findings or the protections enabled on your account.

Before signingRequest current assurance reports, their scope, the relevant data terms and your account’s access settings.
